The Office of Transfer Student Services

The Transitional Program within Division of Undergraduate Studies is designed to assist students make a seamless transition and successful progress toward graduation at Jackson State University. The Transitional Program provides information, referrals, and major exploration support to enhance students' opportunities for strong academic preparation. We provide students with assistance and connections to campus resources to make a smooth transition. The Transitional Program also offers one-on-one academic support and semester activities geared at making your transition and stay here at Jackson State University as simple and pleasant as possible.

The Transition Program Offers:

•  Academic advising with a professional advisor trained to work specifically with transfer students concerning: 
     o transfer course equivalencies
     o transfer course articulations
     o prerequisites for major 
     o summer transient forms
     o major requirements 
     o major deadlines 
     o foreign language requirements
     o information on JSU's general education programs
  
  Declared students with 60 or more transfer hours have specific advising locations and will be referred to and advised within their academic departments.
  
  
• Comprehensive academic support which assists students in building skills for academic success.
  
• Specialized orientation sessions designed to introduce students to the university and resources available.
  
• Semester workshops organized to help transfer students make connections to the JSU campus community and resources (i.e. Transfer Success Workshops Series, Transfer Talkback Sessions, Peer Tutoring and CAI Labs).
  
• Convenient advisement complied of JSU Transfer Advisory Board members located in each Academic Department to assist students during their tenure here.
  
  The Transition Program offers course articulation in accordance to the Articulation Agreement set forth by the Mississippi Board of Trustees of State Intuitions of Higher Learning and Mississippi State Board for Community Colleges.
  
  *All transfer students are required to take and pass the English Proficiency Exam before graduation.
