| The First Year Assessment Program is designed to assess student learning outcomes in general education and to use the data to continuously improve the learning environment and enhance the effectiveness of the general education program. All first time freshmen are required to take a battery of cognitive and non-cognitive instruments, complete portfolios, and surveys and participate in the Personal Development and Assessment program in the Division of Student Life. The battery of instruments include: ACCUPLACER (special population of students) College Basic Academic Subjects Exam/Essay (CBASE) A Pre-Test and Post-Test National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) College Learning Assessment (CLA) Strengths Quest Program Community Service/Service Learning Survey Unit Surveys At the end of the sophomore year or when the student has completed English104, 105, 111, 112, 205, college algebra, history101, 102, 111, 112, and bio 101, 111, 112, the CBASE/Essay Post Test is administered and all students are required to take the test. The Undergraduate English Proficiency Examination is a GRADUATION requirement for all students and should be taken the end of the sophomore year. |
